対比ですね。

and says nice things, but deep down, you just know she's a bitch? "
（あ、つまり、お父さんの彼女がいつもニコニコしていいことばかり
いっているのに、深いところでは嫌なオンナってわかってるみたいな？）
●say nice things お世辞を言う

Susan: "I don't like that word, Julie.
But yeah, that's a great example."
（その言葉(＝a bitch)きらいよ、ジュリー。でも、そうね、いい例だわ。）
最後のセリフはアメリカでは子供に汚い言葉を聞かせるのに
とっても神経質なため、"a bitch"といったジュリーに対してスーザンが
こういっているのです。

Lynette: "No, no." Lynette turns to go back inside the house.

Mrs. Huber: "By the way, was that you I saw getting pulled over by a policeman?"
(ところで、もしかして警官に止められていたのあなた？)
●pull over クルマを脇に止められる
Lynette: "Yeah, the boys were acting up in the car. I couldn't get them to sit down."
（そうなの。子供が車の中で騒ぐもんだから。座らせされなくて。）
●get 人 動詞 （人）に〜させる
Mrs. Huber: "Young boys can be so willful."
（男の子って元気一杯よね）
Lynette: "I try everything. I scream. I threaten. I reason. I beg. Nothing works.
I don't know if it's because they're too young and
they don't understand or they're just getting some perverse joy out of testing me."
（全部思いつくことはしたんだけど・・・怒鳴ったし、脅したし、理屈で攻めたし、お願いもした。

●too A to B AすぎてBできない
reason は名詞で理由、動詞で理屈でやめさせる、論じる という意味があります。
perverse 意地の悪い、天邪鬼な
Mrs. Huber: "My mother used to have the worst time with me in the car.
So one time when I was acting up, she stopped and left me on the side of the road and she drove off."
（うちの母は、クルマで私が騒ぐからって頭を悩ませていて。
いつかなんて、騒いでいたら車を止めて私を道端に
置き去りにしていっちゃったこともあるのよ。）
●one time...は「いつかなんてね・・・」という決まり文句。
Lynette: "You're kidding."
（まさか。冗談でしょ。）
Mrs. Huber: "Oh, she came back immediately.
But I never misbehaved in the car again. You should try that."
（まあすぐ戻ってきたけど。でもそれから一度もクルマでは騒がなくなったわ。
試してみたらいいのに。）
●misbehave はmis-（非-)という定冠詞がbehave（行儀良くする）
について、「行儀悪い行い」をするという意味になっています。

chill out ゆっくりする、ぶらぶらする （口語）

（トム。お酒も、オードブルもあるのよ！子供抜きの大人だけ！
で、銀器も！銀器、覚えてる？）
●hors devours はフランス語でhors de vours が英語になったものとおもわれます。
がつがつ食べないもの、という意味で、今ではトレイに載った小さいオードブルをさすようです。
銀器は、欧米では公式な食事会、あらたまった食事などにともされます。
Remember silverware?（銀器って覚えてる？）とレネットは
「最近 改まった食事会などにもいってないわよねえ」と
皮肉をいっています。
Tom: "Honey, can you take this in for me?"
（インスタントカメラをわたして）（これ、現像に出しておいてくれる？）
●現像する、はdevelopともいいます。
Lynette: "Have you heard anything I just said?"
（今私が言ったこと、聞いてた？）
Tom: "Yeah. I'm sorry. I'm just, I'm wiped out.
Three cities in six days. My head is just pounding.
I'm not ready for a dinner party."
(うん。ごめん、なんていうか・・・疲れているんだ。
6日で3都市だよ。頭がずきずきするんだ。夕食会にはいけないよ。)
●be wiped outはスッゴク疲れるという意味の口語です。
exhaustedなどとどうレベルでしょうか。
pound 打ち付ける。
My heart is pounding. 心臓がどきどきしちゃう、という使い方も良くします。

フーバー夫人が、ミンスパイをもってスーザンを尋ねるシーン
Susan: "Mrs. Huber!"
(フーバーさん！）
Mrs. Huber: "Hello, Susan. I made you a pie."
（こんにちわ スーザン、パイを作ってきたわよ。）
Susan: "Oh. Wow. Why?"
（ワォ。で、どうしてですか？）
Mrs. Huber: "Do I need a motive to do something nice?"
（親切なことをするのに動機が必要かしら？）
Mrs. Huber: "I can't wait for you to try this. It's mincemeat."
（さあ、はやくこれ食べてみて。ミンスミートなの。）
Susan: "Actually, I just had dinner."
（実は、夕食食べたばかりなの。）
Mrs. Huber: "That's okay. You can save it for later."
（大丈夫よ。あとにとっておけばいいわ）
Susan: "What's so funny?"
（なにをわらっているの？）
Mrs. Huber: "I was just thinking of that expression:
I'll make mincemeat out of you. Mincemeat.
It used to be an entree made up of mostly chopped meat,
so it was like saying 'I'll chop you up into little bits.'"
But that was centuries ago.
Today, mincemeat is mostly made up of fruit, spices, and rum.
There's no meat in it. And still people say I'll make mincemeat out of you."
「アンタなんかミンチにしてやる」って表現あるでしょ、ちょっと考えてたのよ。
ミンスミート（mince=ミンチ）って、昔はチョップされた肉料理だったのよね。
だから「アンタなんかミンチにしてやる」って表現は、
つまり、「アンタなんか粉々にチョップ（＝叩き切る）してやる」という感じよね。
でもそれって何世紀も前のこと。
最近はミンスミートというとフルーツとか、香辛料とかラムでできているのよね。
肉なんか入ってないの。
でもまだ人は「アンタなんかミンチにしてやる」っていうのよね。
●わかりにくいですが・・・・（笑
mince=ミンチにする、という意味です。
英語でミンチ肉はmince"d" meatといいます。（アメリカではground beef)
しかし、mincemeat というとフーバー夫人が言っているように、
フルーツと香辛料とラムで作るもので、それを中に入れると
mince pieというものが出来上がります。
なぜここでこのミンチにしてやる！云々の発言が出てきたかというと、
フーバー夫人はこれからスーザンがイーディの家に火をつけたことを責めようと
しているのです。
つまり、「あなたもイーディをミンチにしたかったから火をつけたんでしょ！」
という感じです。
Susan: "I don't know that people really say that anymore."
（そんな表現、まだ使われているか知らないけど。）
Mrs. Huber: "I do. So, Susan. How are you?"
（私は使うわよ。で、スーザン、元気なの？）
●I do(say that.)カッコ内が省略されています。
Susan: "I'm fine."
（元気よ。）
Mrs. Huber: "Good. You know, I have a confession to make.
I've always wished I'd have been more supportive when Carl left you."
（それは良かった。あのね、告白することがあるの。
カールがあなたを捨てたとき、もっと支えてあげたらよかったとおもって。）
●I have a confession to make.
隠していたこと、言いにくいことをいうときに使う定番表現。
Susan: "Oh, you don't have to apologize about Carl.
Really, Carl and I are over. I've moved on."
（カールのことなら謝る必要はないわ。私たち終わったもの。
私はもう立ち直ったし。）
●over おわった
move on =別れて、もう大丈夫、立ち直って次に移るということ
Mrs. Huber: "Yes, I know.
You've moved on to that nice Mike Delfino.
He's quite a catch, isn't he? You like him don't you?"
（しってるわよ。マイク・デルフィーノに移ったんでしょ。
彼って掘り出し者よね？アナタ、彼のこと好きなんでしょ？）

（大体。あの子達をバスまで送ってくれてありがと。）
●Thanks again for...はすでにお礼を言ったことに対して
もう一度お礼を言うときに使います。
Rex: "Happy to do it. I miss 'em."
（喜んで。子供たちのことが恋しいよ。）
●I miss 'em.=I miss them(=kids)
Bree: "Did you hear there was a break in at Mrs. Frome's the other night?"
（この間の夜、Frome夫人のところで泥棒が入ったこと、聞いた？）
Rex: "Yeah. I heard they didn't take anything."
（うん。でも何も盗られなかったんだろう？）
●they=thiefs（泥棒たち）
Bree: "Well, that doesn't make it any less frightening.
I mean, he could have been a sexual predator."
（ええ・・・でも怖いわ。性犯罪者だったかもしれないのよ。）
Rex: "And he ended up at Mrs. Frome's? That would have been a lose-lose situation."
（で、Frome夫人のところに？それだったらルーズ・ルーズシチュエーションだったな。）
● a lose-lose situationは、win-win situation（双方が勝者になる関係）の逆。
Bree: "Rex. That's not the point. The point is, I don't feel safe.
And I was wondering if you could spend the night."
（レックス、それは重要なことじゃないわ。言いたいことはね、私が安全に感じないってことよ。
今晩ここに泊まって貰えないかしら？）
●the point＝重要なこと 日本語でも「この話のポイントは・・・」っていいますよね。
Rex: "You're in the NRA. You own, like, four guns. If someone broke in, I'd expect you to protect me."
（君はNRAの会員だろう？君は４丁も銃を持ってるじゃないか。
もし誰かが侵入してきたら君に僕を守ってほしいよ。）
